Dear Alejandrina,
Here I am again, typing this time to make the page go further. I have just written to Teresa and I hope you’ll exchange letters so I don’t need to repeat myself. I can tell you that Oscar’s film for Paul McCartney has just won the first prize for shorts at the Cannes Festival (la Palme D’Or) and we are very happy about that. A note has probably been published about it in the Argentinean press, but otherwise you now have the news “from the horses mouth”. This is very good because the festival is very prestigious and to have won the main prize means that he might be offered other kinds of films, which would be better for him to do than commercials. Although he is determined not go back to working under such pressure, which is what in the end made him ill, being awarded a prize that will open many possibilities is great for him.
He’s also planning to illustrate books, which can be done from home in a relaxed way. He is looking very handsome; I am enclosing some photos for you to see how relaxed and rested he is. He has not started working yet although, as you can imagine, being Oscar he has not stopped drawing. However, that’s what he enjoys doing and it gives him great pleasure. The best thing is to be at home together and he has promised that when he goes back to work he’ll spend most of the time working at home instead of going to the studio every day and exhaust himself travelling to and fro as before.
Pablo is enjoying much more being with his dad, we do a lot together, go out when we want and, in short, the three of us are having a very good time. The thing is to manage to carry on living like this.
How are you all? A few days ago Teresa phoned and the day before yesterday Tito called. It was a surprise even if you had said that he had our number and would phone. Oscar was so happy to talk to him after all these years. How is granny? We always think of her and I will write in the next few days because there’s been some time since we had news. I hope that in the meantime you will read this letter to her and tell her that we send her lots of love and kisses.
Now I will leave some space for Oscar to write and say goodbye. A big embrace from

Querida Alejandrina:
Aquí estoy de nuevo, esta vez escribiendo a máquina porque así entra más en una página. Acabo de escribirle a Teresa y espero que se intercambien las cartas así no repito lo mismo. A Ud. le cuento que la película que hizo Oscar para Paul McCartney acaba de ganar el primer premio para cortos en el Festival de Cannes (la Palme D’Or) y estamos todos muy contentos. Seguramente habrá salido alguna nota en algún diario argentino, pero si no ya lo sabe en directo. Es muy lindo porque ese es un festival importante y haber ganado el primer premio es algo bueno para su trabajo porque significa que pueden ofrecerle otras películas para hacer que no sean de publicidad, que es lo que no le conviene hacer. Igualmente él no va a volver a trabajar de la manera en que lo hacía antes, con tanta tensión y problemas, pues eso es lo que lo enfermó al final. Por eso es una gran alegría que haya recibido el premio que le va a dar muchas posibilidades.
Además, tiene muchos planes para libros que ilustrar y eso es algo que él hace en casa, tranquilo y sin nervios. Está muy lindo, le mando unas fotos para que vea, tranquilito y descansado, no empezó a trabajar todavía aunque, siendo Oscar, se imagina que no para de dibujar, pero al menos eso es lo que le gusta y lo hace por puro placer. Estar juntos en casa es lo mejor de todo, ya me prometió que cuando vuelva a trabajar lo hará la mayor parte del tiempo en casa en vez de ir al estudio todos los días y agotarse viajando y trajinando como solía hacer.
Pablo se disfruta a su papá mucho más, hacemos muchas cosas juntos y paseamos cuando queremos, en fin, estamos pasando un tiempo hermoso los tres, la cuestión es que continúe así.
¿Cómo andan por allá? Hace unos días llamó Teresa y antes de ayer llamó Tito, lo cual fue una sorpresa, aunque Ud. ya nos había dicho que él tenía el teléfono y que iba a llamar. Oscar se puso muy contento de hablarle después de tantos años.
¿Cómo está la abuelita? Siempre nos acordamos de ella y en estos días le voy a escribir porque hace mucho que no tenemos noticias. Espero que le lea esta carta mientras tanto y que le diga que le mandamos muchos besos y cariños.
