This was our first sighting of England from the ferry.
Esta fue nuestra primera vista de Inglaterra desde el ferry.

We arrived in London and settled in a small hotel in Russel Square, to spend two weeks there while Oscar worked on a series of "The Jackson Five". The two weeks became a month and then four, so we decided to find a furnished flat to rent which would be more comfortable and cheaper. We felt rich beyond our wildest dreams with the £60 a week Oscar was paid plus, after deciding to stay, my earnings from tracing and painting. The flat, in a nice block in Chepstow Mansions (Now Pembridge Mansions or something like that), Notting Hill Gate, cost the princely sum of £25 a week, which was really a lot of money, but what the heck, we could afford it!

On our first day in London, a beautiful spring day, I walked everywhere taking photos. Shame I only had a Kodak Instamatic!

Llegamos a Londres y nos instalamos en un

hotelito en Russel Square, para pasar las dos semanas mientras Oscar trabajaba en una serie de "The Jackson Five". Las dos semanas se hicieron un mes y después cuatro, de manera que decidimos buscar un departamentito amueblado, más barato y donde estaríamos más comodos. Nos sentíamos riquísimos con las £60 que Oscar ganaba más mi sueldo de calco y pintura. El departamento estaba en un lindo edificio en Chepstow Mansions (ahora se llama Pembridge Mansions o algo así) en Notting Hill Gate, y costaba la inmensa suma de £25 por semana, lo cual era muchísimo pero, al fin y al cabo, podíamos pagarlo!

El primer día en Londres, mientras Oscar empezaba su trabajo, me fui a caminar y a sacar fotos. Lástima que tenía una Kodak Instamatic!
