Dear Alejandrina,We have just received your letter. Oscar hasn’t read it yet because he is at work, he will see it tonight. I am glad that the dollars arrived. Soon that gentleman will bring you some more because we made a bargain with him: Oscar will buy spare parts for a car he owns and instead of repaying him in London he will give it to you. It is better that way, so you get the money in dollars instead of australs, which loose value. I hope you will use them as you see fit and we will try to do this regularly. I am not sure whether it helps or not, but it was about time, wasn’t it?

I am sending you some recent photos of the children. It is spring but it was still cold, hence they are wearing warm clothes. I took them when my mum was here. It had been nearly 5 years since I saw her last and she came only for 10 days, but that’s better than nothing. At least she met Francesca. I am also sending you some photos of Francesca’s first day at playgroup. It is obvious that she fitted in immediately, isn’t it? She attends twice a week for three hours and loves it. She also needs it because it is boring for her to be all day at home. She has grown big and beautiful. Querida Alejandrina,

Acabamos de recibir su carta, Oscar todavía no la leyó porque esta trabajando, la verá ésta noche. Me alegro que le hayan llegado los dólares. Ese señor le llevará un poco más dentro de poco, porque hicimos un trato con él de que Oscar le comprará repuestos para un auto que él tiene y en vez de devolverle el dinero a Londres se lo dará a Ud. Es mejor, así Ud tiene dólares en vez de australes que se desvalorizan. Espero que haga lo que más le guste y trataremos de hacerlo regularmente. No sé si servira de algo, pero ya era hora, no? Aquí le mando unas fotos de los chicos de hace poco. Es primavera pero todavía hacía frío, por eso están en el jardín pero abrigados. Son de cuando vino mi mamá. Hacía casi 5 años que no la veía y vino solamente por 10 días, pero algo es algo. Por lo menos conoció a Francesca. También le mando unas cuantas del primer día de Francesca en el jardín de infantes. Se nota que se adaptó enseguida, ¿eh? Va 2 veces por semana por 3 horas. Le gusta mucho y le hace falta, si no se aburre solita en casa. Está enorme y preciosa. Ahora que se le pasó del todo la diarrea está más redondita y creció mucho desde el año pasado..... (Faltan las demás páginas)
