Volvió la primavera - Spring is back

Dear Alejandrina,

Today it is three months to the day since Oscar had his heart attack in Paris and here he is, completely recovered from the operation, sitting comfortably in his recliner armchair and watching television. Three days ago the doctor gave him a check up, found his heart in excellent nick and gave him a clean bill of health. He has nearly got over the muscular pains that he gets when he looses so much weight and soon we’ll start going swimming together, the three of us. Spring has started very nicely, sunny and warm, with plenty of flowers. My garden is looking beautiful, full of blooms, and the bushes we bought together have grown enormous! The sweet peas you gave me as seed are still flowering and the parsley is doing well.
The “pearl” plant also always reminds me of you and granny. This year it’s covered in opening pearls. It’s been cloudy for the past few days but we still went to the park for walks, a bit at a time until Oscar gets stronger.

He is drawing a lot, some beautiful drawings, he is enjoying a real rest for the first time, thinking of nothing to do with work.
We received your package full of very nice and tasty presents. The t-shirt for Pablo is just the right size and it’s the time to wear it. The one for Oscar is a bit tight but as soon as he looses the little weight he needs to shed it will fit him perfectly. My tights are great and so are the “yerba” and “dulce de leche”. We’ll keep the latter until Oscar is down to his required weight and can eat a little, because at the moment he is on a very strict diet. We also loved the little box with the photo and the souvenir.
Thank you very much, we know that it is neither easy nor cheap to send packages from over there. I would like to know if it is possible to send something from here without causing custom problems for the recipients. I fear that it might be more trouble than it would be worth.

Pablito is as lovely as always, waiting for his birthday, which will be in two weeks time. We will celebrate with a party and invite all his friends, big and small. He loves birthday parties, the cake and the candles, not to mention the balloons! We’ll try to take some photos to send you. Thank you for the package, we would like to send something but are worried that the customs people might charge you for getting it. Can you make enquiries?
Don’t bother about my pension, I am not very interested. It would be too late to do anything and, in any case, I have a private pension scheme here.
Everything is going well, the scar was already looking good a few days after the operation. The only problem I still have is a bit of aching of the ribs, which the doctor said usually lasts about two months.
In the X-Rays the heart looks perfect. Because I am taking anticoagulants I have to have my blood coagulation level checked every two weeks (eventually it’ll be done every month). My blood is still coagulating too fast and they prefer it to be “more liquid”. I am also taking iron tablets because they have now discovered that I had always been a bit anaemic. Already I am over the anaemia, I am slim and pretty and well rested. I will send photos soon.

Querida Alejandrina:

Hoy hace exactamente 3 meses que Oscar tuvo su infarto en París, y aquí está, ya repuesto de su operación, comodamente sentado en su sillón reclinable, mirando televisión. Hace 3 días tuvo su revisación médica y el doctor lo encontró en excelente estado, con su corazón perfectamente bien y muy repuesto. Ya casi no tiene dolores musculares que tuvo a causa de haber adelgazado tanto y pronto vamos a empezar a ir a nadar los tres juntos. Aquí la primavera empezó muy buena, con calor y sol, y muchísimas flores. Mi hardín está hermoso, lleno de flores y los arbustos que compramos juntas, ¿se acuerda?¡ están enormes! Todavía siguen floreciendo las arvejillas que Ud. me dio en semilla, y el perejil.

También siempre me acuerdo de Ud. y la abuelita por la planta de las perlas. Este año está llena de perlas que están por aparecer. Estos últimos días estuvo nublado pero igual salimos al parque a caminar, poco a poco para que Oscar se ponga fuerte.
Está dibujando mucho, unos dibujos lindísimos, y por primera vez está teniendo un verdadero descanso, sin pensar en nada parecido a trabajo.
Recibimos su encomienda con todos los regalitos, muy lindos ¡y ricos! Para Pablo la remera es justo el tamaño, y el tiempo, para usarla. La de Oscar es medio justa pero en cuanto pierda el poco de panza que le queda le irá bien, mis medias son bárbaras y la yerba y el dulce de leche también. Este último lo guardaremos hasta que Oscar esté en el peso establecido y pueda comer un poco. Ahora está en una dieta muy estricta.
También nos gustó mucho la cajita con la foto y el recuerdito. Muchísimas gracias, nosotros sabemos que no es simple ni barato hacer una encomienda desde allá.
Me gustaría saber si nosotros podemos mandar algo desde aquí. Si supiera que no causa problemas de aduana alla, lo haría, pero tengo miedo de que sea un lío más que lo que vale la pena.

Pablito sigue hecho un amor, esperando su cumpleaños que es dentro de 2 semanas. Vamos a hacer una fiestita para festejar con sus amiguitos, chicos y grandes. Le encantan los cumpleaños, la torta y las velitas ¡y ni que hablar de los globos!

Aquí yo agrego unas líneas. Gracias por la encomienda, nos gustaría mandar algo a nosotros pero tenemos miedo de que en la aduana les cobren plata, ¿por qué no averiguas?
Lo de la jubilación no me interesa demasiado, así que no te preocupes, igual sería muy tarde para hacer nada. Yo aquí tengo una póliza privada de jubilación.
Todo va bien, la cicatriz ya estaba perfecta a los pocos días de la operación. Lo único que queda aún es un poco de dolor de costillas que el médico dijo que duraría dos meses. Las radiografías muestran que el corazón está perfecto. Como tomo anticoagulantes voy cada dos semanas (y luego iré cada mes) al hospital por un analisis. Aún mi sangre coagula mucho y ellos la prefieren más “líquida”. También tomo hierro pues yo siempre fui anémico y ahora lo vinieron a descubrir. Ahora la anemia pasó. Estoy flaco, lindo y bien descansado. Pronto les voy a mandar fotos.
